Desde mi punto de vista, la arquitectura orgánica debe cumplir con 3 requisitos básicos:
1.- Los materiales a usar debieran ser fundamentalmente materiales naturales, y ojala del mismo lugar en que se emplaza la obra y en su estado más natural posible. También pueden ser materiales reciclados (naturales o industriales) la idea de esto, es usar materiales de bajo proceso industrial, o que hayan demandado un bajo nivel de energía en su fabricación. La ley del mínimo esfuerzo, o de máximo ahorro de energía es una constante en la naturaleza, y una de las características de este tipo de arquitectura es, justamente, ser una manifestación mas de la naturaleza respetando sus leyes.
2.- La concepción espacial y formal de la obra debe estar en armonía con su entorno y aceptar cambios y modificaciones inducidas por:
a) Los materiales a emplear, que al ser naturales, no tienen todos la misma forma ni dimensión (troncos, piedras, barro, etc.)
b) Su entorno y realidad física, que a veces no se conocen en su totalidad con anterioridad al proyecto (como rocas bajo el suelo, árboles que “piden” ser incorporados a la obra, vertientes, etc.) la idea de esto es ir siempre a favor de la naturaleza, y no en contra de ella (con esa manía que tiene el ser humano de querer “dominar” la naturaleza y hacer lo que se le ocurre a toda costa sin importar las consecuencias)
3.- La habitabilidad de la obra, debiera considerar sistemas de calefacción o ventilación de bajo consumo energético, tales como energía solar, energía geotérmica, etc., con una buena aislación en sus muros, ventanas y techo.
Todo esto sin llegar a ser fundamentalistas (o intolerantes) ya que una de las características de la naturaleza, es su adaptabilidad y tolerancia.

About the O.A. in
In my case I have experimented with O.A. in many projects. At first, I include mud in the inside (I live in a cold rain forest area). After a while we experimented with the exterior, protecting the mud from the rain. Finally I used the O.A. in the whole concept.
Other issue that I had to work with, was that this type of Arch. brakes with traditional status that the program of the building needs to show (in our society), so the owner needs to understand and be part of the change that the O.A. brings to all aspects of our way of living.
This time, the owners were willing to take the risk with O.A., because this was their summerhouse. For this reason this type of arch. is more popular in buildings that are programmed for Tourism, restaurants, Springs or hotels. In fact I’m working on a hotel project (12 rooms) in Menetúe Springs; this will be a full organic construction, the same with a restaurant at Pucón that is in the middle of the construction face. Anyway, the concept of O.A. is pretty new, actually I looked it up in the internet, and it appears there are different concepts of what I had in mind. What I found shows Organic ideas only in the shapes of buildings (shark house, whale house). What I’m working on is much deeper than that. Its not only the shape what I’m interested in, its the shape, materials, the amount of energy saved, etc.
I’m 55 five years old, happily married with four children; I’ve been practicing for thirty years now, but working with O.A. only eight.
I’m the president of the architect association at the Araucania Lacustre (the area I live in) from here I’ve been trying to promote the O.A. -among other reasons- because I’m concerned about global warming. We (as a corporation) give counselling to the town house about urban development on our area. Personally I try to create an environment of love and friendship between all living things.
